OpenVOS 17
We have just finished a multi-month effort to upgrade the LTS/OnGuard software to support the features of OpenVOS 17 and 17.1. This includes supporting extended file names and more than 5 groups (up to 32) for user registration. Major effort, affecting a significant part of the code base for LTS. Also a worthwhile effort. We used the opportunity to enhance several areas of LTS, including file and directory integrity checking, and comparing the current security settings against a corporate security standard.
We decided that the changes were so major that the 6.0 release and later would not support earlier versions of VOS, prior to 17.0. As a result, we will continue to support LTS/OnGuard release 5.7 and later versions. 5.7 runs on Continuum, and on V-series VOS releases through 17. 5.7 will run fine on OpenVOS 17, but will not support extended file names and >5 groups.
